TRiPPY
*unleashes full power of ALL the feels* NEW TRiPPY ART! Introducing my latest piece of fanart for a panel of the wonderful Sonic The Comic Online. It’s a massive pleasure and honour to have my work included in their gallery of other Sonic artists I both currently admire or grew up admiring. These guys have so much love for something I was really attached to as a child, Fleetway’s Sonic The Comic, so in return I have a lot of love for them for keeping the old official SEGA comic alive. America has Archie, but we had STC. The artwork was incredible and at times painted traditionally with so much attention to detail like it wasn’t looking down on the age of the readership. I can look back at the art now and it still amazes me. These were the guys who taught me to love comics and draw them. My own style grew from theirs and without STC I wouldn’t be the same type of artist I am now. Very very British, lol. Anyhoo, my art here is from a panel near the epic issue 100. Issue 97 I believe. Knuckles and Porker Lewis (Forever voiced by Krillin in my head) are captured by the Floating Island’s ancient security robots and taken to Dr Robotnik’s huge biological computer where the Green Hill residents are being held. Much to Knuckles’ dislike. And Dr Zachary, can I have a moment, hnnngh Zachary was BADASS. I always wanted to see more of his story, like why he was evil and where he came from. I always felt so bad for Knuckles when he finally got to meet one of his people and they turned out to be a complete tool. I was a huge Knuckles fan as a kid so I was really into the STC Knuckles storyline. It’s one of the reasons I’ve always had red hair XD; haha This pic is a homage to Dobbyn and Elson who drew so many of my favourite Knuckles stories. I’d like to thank them for making me an artist and a SEGA fan It was always my dream to work on the comic one day before it went under, so I guess this is the closest I’ll get to that one. (Unless that’s my NEXT campaign…. >u> ) It was great (quite emotional actually) to see STC back in print for one issue at SUmmer of Sonic this year. It was like holding a piece of my history in my hands. My fanart would be printed in the comic a lot. So yeah… sadness and happiness. So many memories. I wish the comic was still on sale. It would probably sell better today here in the UK with the new generation of little Sonic fans. STCO Can be read here: http://www.stconline.co.uk/ My panel with story text will be added to the website soon so please check back to read everyones story panel: http://www.stconline.co.uk/summary/index.html
